At Nevada Heart and Vascular Center (NHVC), the Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) ensures the safe delivery of non-invasive cardiac testing and monitoring under the direction of the Nurse Manager and clinic physicians. This role focuses on providing exceptional patient care and performing diagnostic testing of the cardiovascular system to aid in the discovery and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and directives from administration, including OSHA Safety, Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Compliance, and departmental policies.
  • Travel to various locations if needed; reliable transportation required.
  • Arrive at scheduled shifts 15 minutes prior to clinic start unless approved by management.
  • Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers.
  • Educate patients about procedures and answer questions.
  • Room patients, conduct pre-screening, obtain vital signs, and document information while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Start intravenous (IV) lines if required.
  • Safely position patients on exam tables or treadmills as needed for testing.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, including regular treadmill stress tests, Cardiolyte treadmill stress tests, Lexiscan, or echo treadmill stress tests as ordered by physicians.
  • Monitor patient safety before, during, and after testing; notify physicians immediately of abnormal responses or results.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly.
  • Accurately review, analyze, and update patient medical records.
  • Use diagnostic medical equipment after proper training.
  • Maintain supply inventory, stocking, and organization.
  • Ensure sanitary standards in clinic rooms between patient visits.
  • Attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification and training from an accredited institution (EMT may be considered based on experience).
  • Current BLS and ACLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • General computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, physicians, and management.
  • Professional etiquette and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Commitment to teamwork and a collaborative approach.
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a clinical or medical setting.
  • Previous cardiovascular experience.
  • Experience with medical terminology.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary for communication with employees, physicians, and patients.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including PCs, copiers, fax machines, and multi-line telephones.
  • Occasional lifting of heavy or awkward items, walking, bending, and stretching in a clinical office setting.

Schedule

  • Full-time, on-site role.
  • Location: Las Vegas, Nevada.
