About the role

The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in preparing the operating room and surgical team for various cardiac surgeries. The position requires adherence to aseptic techniques, setting up sterile equipment, instruments, and drapes, assisting with the surgical team, and ensuring a sterile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the operating room and patient for surgery by applying principles of asepsis.
  • Sets up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes, and solutions.
  • Aids in scrubbing, preparing the sterile field, and gowning/gloving members of the surgical team.
  • Assists with putting on surgical gowns and gloves for the surgeon and assistants.
  • Positions and drapes the patient under the direction of qualified practitioners.
  • Supports patient comfort and safety measures under the direction of qualified practitioners.
  • Transfers and positions the patient onto the operating room table and covers them with sterile surgical drapes.
  • Collaborates with anesthesia personnel as needed under the direction of qualified practitioners.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a surgical technology program accredited through the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST).
  • Surgical Technologist Registration: WA, required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR through the American Heart Association, required upon hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing may be substituted for a surgical technician program, but requires RN License: WA, upon hire.
  • Two years of OR experience demonstrating attainment of requisite job knowledge skills/abilities, preferred.
  • Six months of Cardiac experience, preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.

Pay

The posted compensation range is $30.62 - $51.19 per hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit Health believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Schedule

80 hours per pay period, Monday through Friday, 0630-1500.
