About the role

The Echo Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures ordered by the physician. This individual ensures the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment, serves as a role model and clinical resource for staff, and responds to requests for information or follow-up with physicians, staff, or patient issues.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all department equipment safely and properly.
  • Teach and mentor radiology students.
  • Relay TEE Probe serial number to RN to document in patient record and enter into Merge for bidirectional tracking of scope used.
  • Assure proper patient data is entered in Merge for reporting.
  • Perform proper HLD disinfection on TEE scope and maintain documentation in departmental log.
  • Follow proper procedures for quality controls and HLD related to equipment and accessories.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform surgery and portable exams.
  • Follow department protocols for communicating with patients, doctors, and coworkers.
  • Safely transport patients to and from the radiology department.
  • Demonstrate proper documentation concerning patient’s history.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform contrast media administration.
  • Accurately follow physician orders, document completion of exam in Meditech, scan documents, and verify images in Merge.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Diagnostic Echo Medical Sonography Program.
  • ARDMS or CCI registered or eligible (to be obtained within 6 months of employment start date).
  • American Heart BLS certification (obtained/maintained according to hospital policy).
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
