About the Role
Perform daily clinical adult cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures (echocardiography), assessing basic and advanced cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, and creating preliminary reports for interpretation by a cardiologist.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology (CVT), Echocardiography, or equivalent from a CAAHEP program or Health Science Program.
- Current American Heart Association BLS.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) required within one (1) year of hire.
- Six (6) months of clinical training in cardiac ultrasound or comparable experience, completed during clinical rotations or through post-graduate experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Echocardiography, or equivalent.
- Current American Heart Association ACLS.
- Two (2) years of experience in post-graduation cardiac ultrasound.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine two-dimensional echo, stress echo, pharmacological stress echo, transesophageal echo, and emergent echo procedures in accordance with standard practice, including advanced techniques such as 3D and strain imaging.
- Utilizes ultrasound enhancing agents (UEAs) and agitated saline when requested or clinically necessary.
- Provides echocardiography services at all required locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled.
- Operates and maintains equipment necessary to perform all required procedures, including routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and reporting malfunctions.
- Evaluates patient's electronic medical record to obtain relevant history, reason for exam, and necessary information to perform the study.
- Prepares preliminary reports for review and interpretation by a cardiologist, including comparison of previous studies.
- Participates in professional education, lab meetings, and quality improvement projects.
- Participates in the reaccreditation process and quality demands of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission of Echocardiography (IAC-Echo).
- Completes documentation of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.

Schedule
This role requires regular and sustained attendance. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
