MFM Sonographer (FT- 0.9 FTE, Day Shift)

About the Role

The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer provides specialized high-risk obstetric ultrasound services to assist in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of maternal and fetal conditions. This role performs a wide range of advanced OB ultrasound examinations and assists MFM physicians with invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of high-risk obstetric ultrasound studies according to established protocols.
• Assist MFM physicians with invasive obstetric procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS.
• Import images and clinical data into Viewpoint and PACS systems, ensuring accurate patient record documentation.
• Evaluate fetal anatomy, growth, and well-being; identify abnormal findings and obtain additional images as directed.
• Provide patient education and support before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, stocking of supplies, and readiness for procedures.
• Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) of ultrasound transducers per infection control standards.
• Collaborate with MFM physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental process improvements.
• Mentor and support new sonographers and students in the MFM setting.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health/Education Programs (CAAHEP).
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (OB/GYN).
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Fetal Echocardiography (FE) registry, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Qualifications

Preferred: Two (2) years of related work experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine or a high-risk obstetrics setting.

Schedule

• This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
• The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
• On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
