About the role
As a Per Diem Cardiac Sonographer at Wood County Hospital, you will provide accurate and high-quality diagnostic imaging through ultrasound, ensuring patient safety and comfort while supporting physicians and medical teams in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations to produce clear and precise images for physician evaluation.
- Monitor patient conditions during procedures to ensure safety, comfort, and cooperation.
- Analyze ultrasound images and document findings accurately in patient records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to review diagnostic results and assist with treatment decisions.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper function, calibration, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare, prevent, protect, and respond to support our culture of safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved school of diagnostic ultrasound or equivalent experience accepted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current BLS certification.
- ARDMS certified, or certification obtained within 18 months of hire date.
- Cardiac Sonographer – Ultrasound Registration as an RDCS or RCS (or within 1 year of hire).
- RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer issued by ARDMS or RCS – Echo Registered Cardiac Sonography issued by CCI.
- Vascular-Ultrasound registration as an RVT (or obtained within 18 months of hire date).
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements
- In an 8 to 12-hour workday, you will stand/walk for 6-8 hours at a time.
- In an 8 to 12-hour workday, you will sit for 6-8 hours at a time.
- You will occasionally lift 20-50 pounds.
- You will use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
- You must be able to bend frequently, squat frequently, kneel occasionally, and not climb.
