The ECHO & EKG Lab is growing and we have Full-time inpatient and ER Opportunities available with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

The Cardiac Sonographer 2 performs basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients such as transthoracic, transesophageal and stress, used to diagnose and assess cardiac abnormalities.

• Prepare patients for procedures and obtains clinical history from the patient including cardiac related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data in order to adapt the imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
• Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques, and makes the necessary measurements required for the interpretation to obtain accurate, high quality results.
• Identify and define cardiac abnormalities and extend the scope of the examination appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when necessary and correlating invasive and noninvasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
• Assist physicians in the procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to aid them in proceeding with complex procedures to decrease risk factors.
• Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate.
• Act as a resource to other staff, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures and studies to optimize patient care.

Requirements

• Must be available from 7:30a – 5pm and be flexible to work extended hours when needed.
• Must be available for on call, which includes weekends and holidays, and be present/on-site within 1 hour of call.
• Must be willing to travel 1-2 times a month, rotational, to perform echoes at a continuing care facility across town.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Technical or Associates degree program in Radiology and 2 years’ professional experience with intermediate level echocardiography or vascular skills.

• Must have one of the following credentials: RCS- Registered Cardiac Sonographer through (CCI), or RDCS Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer through (ARDMS), RVT or RVS.
• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Skills

MUST BE proficient in transthoracic echocardiography and have familiarity with Philips iE33/EPIQ systems.

• Ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to the patient and answer patients' questions.
• Knowledge of approved clinical protocols for each type of cardiovascular ultrasound examinations.
• Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians, and nurses.
