Cardiac Sonographer 2 PT Days

About the Role

This position involves performing basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms. The role requires preparing equipment, prepping patients, explaining procedures, reviewing images, reporting findings, and analyzing patient clinical history to guide examinations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history, including cardiac-related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data to adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
• Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures using a variety of equipment and techniques, making necessary measurements for accurate interpretation.
• Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of examinations as needed and correlating invasive and noninvasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
• Assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to reduce risk factors during complex procedures.
• Assist in transesophageal studies with cardiologists, calculate appropriate measurements, and sterilize probes.
• Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as needed.
• Act as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
• Work closely with the cardiac sonographer quality coordinator to ensure adherence to quality processes and protocols, and assist with ICAEL accreditation activities.
• Implement new protocols as technology evolves and ensure adherence to system echocardiography standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
• Required license: RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer).
• More than 3-5 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Must hold one of the following certifications at time of hire/transfer:
  • RCS through Cardio Credentialing International (CCI).
  • RDCS through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

• Understanding of proper infection control and precautionary procedures.
• Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers, including sonographers, physicians, and nurses.
• Proficiency in medical terminology.
• Skilled in the use of computers and medical equipment.

Schedule

• Day shift: 3, 8-hour shifts per week.
• Call requirement: 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM on weekends and 5:30 PM – 6:30 AM on weekdays.
