About the role

Olympic Medical Center is located on the beautiful North Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. The position offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and an outstanding Pacific Northwest lifestyle. Full-time employees work 100% on a day shift with a pay range of $33.86 - $51.86 per hour. There are no weekend or holiday shifts, and no on-call responsibilities.

Job Description

The Cardiac Device Specialist provides technical, clinical, and related services in the areas of Electrophysiology and Cardiology, focusing on Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) in both ambulatory and inpatient settings. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, operating, and troubleshooting various CIED programmers
  • Proficiently interpreting complex Cardiac Device data
  • Collaborating with the Program Medical Director and Cardiology Team to ensure accurate CIED management, arrhythmia interpretation, and device utilization for non-invasive arrhythmia protocols
  • Managing and interpreting CIED remote data
  • Providing comprehensive knowledge of navigating remote sites
  • Demonstrating global Cardiac Device knowledge to physicians and communicating various applications to patients concisely
  • Functioning in a highly specialized and unique area requiring a high level of clinical knowledge and independence

Requirements

Requirements for this position include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • An associate’s degree in Technical, Engineering, Nursing, or Health Science
  • A bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences/Exercise Science or a related field is preferred
  • Formal training in medical terminology or equivalent work experience
  • Training in cardiac device programming education from multiple brands, including Medtronic, Abbott (St. Jude Medical), Biotronic, and Boston Scientific
  • Two years’ experience as a Cardiac Device Technician, Electrophysiology Technician, Exercise Physiologist, or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive Cardiac Device Education Program
  • Three years’ experience in a medical cardiology setting

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Certification (IBHRE) preferred: Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CCEPS)
