Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (Cath Lab Technician)

Responsibilities

• Provides technical assistance to the Cardiologist during all procedures occurring in the Cath lab including LHC, RHC, PTCA's, Stent deployment, IABP Atherectomies, Percusuage, pericardialcentisis, biopsies, temporary pacemakers, EP studies, permanent pacemaker, and ICD placement
• Maintains independence in providing specific instrument and catheters as needed in anticipation of requests
• Affords technical learning opportunities to new employees, fellows, and students
• Accurately monitors and records intravascular pressures and electrocardiographer tracings, demonstrating knowledge of normal/abnormal waveforms and cardiac rhythms
• Distinguishes between electrical artifacts and normal/abnormal pressures and EKG patterns
• Operates digital radiographic computer systems and assists physicians in procedures by performing scrub person duties, injecting contrast, and/or panning during the procedure
• Explores data acquisition, storage, and analysis capabilities, using programs to analyze various cardiac functions such as Coronary Anatomy, coronary flow reserve, road mapping, LV function and EF Calculation
• Prepares patients for procedures while assisting with patient education before, during, and after the procedure
• Completes patient records, including Cath Reports and Nurses Notes
• Scrub, circulate, and monitor advanced procedures, including rotoblation, intravascular ultrasound, RADI or wave-wire, Angio jet, filter wires, myocardial biopsies, EPS, permanent pacemaker insertions, AICD insertions, and biventricular pacemaker insertion

Requirements

• Registered RVT by ARDMS
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• At least one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the field within the last three (3) years

Qualifications

• All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
• Lift up to 20 lbs
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
