Project Manager

The Project Manager will prepare, lead, execute & deliver best in class capex projects to add value to Nouryon.

Responsibilities

  • Manage site capex portfolio, including both execution and forecasting.
  • Prepare, lead, execute and deliver best in class capex projects, safe within defined scope, schedule, budget and expected quality.
  • Select, lead and develop the multifunctional project team.
  • Apply and adhere to Nouryon’s project management methodology, NPM.
  • Ensure compliance to company directives.
  • Take owner’s role, bringing value to the business with accountability for the capex part of an assigned capital investment.
  • In the Initiation & Study Phase (FEL-1 and FEL-2) project manager’s responsibility is in the facilitator/technical contributor roles and ensures endorsement and approval of the handed over engineering package by the business/site representative
  • Ensure completeness and quality of the appropriate deliverables for the current stage-gate of the project
  • Generate project’s Appropriation Request (AR) for each stage-gate and obtain sign off for execution
  • Project safety, including ensuring process safety requirements are met as well as safely executing design/construction activities
  • Could possibly support engineering and project management at multiple sites or large capex such as NPM full projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor, master or doctorate level degree in preferably mechanical/civil/electrical engineering or related discipline; relevant experience could suffice in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years of chemical/petrochemical industry experience & 3+ years of project management experience
  • Extensive experience leading multi-discipline engineering reviews for EPC contractors
  • Relevant experience in different units of chemical plants, disciplines, locations, and/or other companies
  • Thorough understanding of common chemical processes, process equipment, piping, and instrumentation
  • Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through
  • Able to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, standards
  • Leadership skills by showing “presence in the room”
  • Ability to work in an inclusive way in the engineering community to make sure the business experiences ‘one voice’ and the project team’s collective objectives are met
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, influencing, persuading, entrepreneurship, result oriented, negotiation, problem solving
  • Good structured and analytical skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English both verbal and written
  • Openness to innovation, change and ability to work in a flexible work environment
  • Able to impart knowledge and learn quickly
  • Team oriented mindset, contributes to project team’s ability to reach maximum performance
  • Able to travel > 5 - 50 days annually
  • SAP project management module experience
  • Able to produce Gantt chart project schedules with critical paths identified
  • Able to develop the appropriate grade of estimate for the project’s stage-gate
  • Able to conduct project risk analysis and contingency analysis
  • Strong scope change management experience
  • Technical expertise of at least one engineering discipline with the ability to facilitate engineering design and analysis across all engineering disciplines.
