Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this role should have:
- A High School Diploma or GED plus twelve (14) years of general system engineering experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus seven (10) years of systems engineering experience.
- A Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus five (8) years of systems engineering experience.
- A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus three (8) years of systems engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
- Leading design and development activities, guiding users in formulating requirements, advising alternative approaches, and conducting feasibility studies.
- Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
- Interacting with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.
- Communicating with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
Skills
The following skills are essential for success in this role:
- Cloud Architecture/ Cloud Engineer/ Platform Engineering (especially in AWS)
- AI/ML system design and implementation
- A high-level understanding of the AI lifecycle (development, training, inference, monitoring)
- Experience with ML pipeline development, model deployment, and DevOps/MLOps
- Experience with Amazon SageMaker
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholder groups
- Experience with system security and networking (particularly the implementation of system security on classified systems)
- Data engineering and data lifecycle management
Pay
The proposed salary range for this position in Maryland is $170,000 to $210,000. Final salary will be determined based on various factors.
