About the role
The Cannabis Advisor is responsible for providing exceptional individualized customer service, educational consulting, and in some cases patient record management.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and patients with a positive attitude.
- Act as an advocate of cannabis customer care.
- Educate customers and patients on cannabis as a wellness product without providing medical advice.
- Build rapport with regular patients/customers to encourage repeat business.
- Collaborate effectively with others in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
- Provide information on types, methods, and efficacy of various cannabis products.
- Stay current with ongoing cannabis education and training.
- Support managers and other Cannabis Advisors as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation and storefront.
- Verify accuracy of online orders before pickup.
- Understand and apply detailed compliance regulations per local and state laws.
- Stock, merchandise, and replenish displays of regulated and unregulated inventory.
- Process transactions at the POS and ensure state-monitored inventory systems (e.g., METRC, BioTrack) are updated accurately.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of retail or hospitality experience.
- Must be 21 years of age and comply with all local, state, and company regulations.
- Willingness to undergo a criminal background check and obtain state badging as required by local ordinances.
- Desire to learn about cannabinoids, terpenes, and product application/consumption methods.
- Ability to use office equipment (computers, printers) and software such as Word, Excel, and email.
- Commitment to learn and understand federal, state, and local cannabis laws and safety regulations.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls.
- Able to move packages weighing up to 20 lb.
- Capable of standing up to 90% of the time.
- Must have hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Must have close observation skills and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment
Work is performed in a retail environment with a moderate noise level.
