The IAG group performs operational audits and seeks individuals who share our mission and aspirations, passionate about influencing risk management in a collaborative, people-focused environment.

Responsibilities

As a summer intern, you will develop operational internal audit skills through projects exposing you to various portfolios within the third line. You will gain hands-on audit experience, identifying and evaluating risk, business process controls, and technology controls across American Express. Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as a key team member on operational audit projects by evaluating risk, documenting processes, implementing audit tests (business process and technology control tests), and detailing results in accordance with IAG methodology, policies, and procedures.
• Research and learn about an audit entity, deploying critical thinking to assess risks and their business impact, using evidence to support conclusions.
• Support leaders and senior auditors by collaborating in a team environment, attending walkthroughs, and detailing work papers.
• Partner with business process audit teams and management to understand key processes, risks, and controls; develop control tests; and analyze and interpret results.
• Build audit proficiency through ongoing professional development, including strengthening data skills.

Potential projects or deliverables may include supporting operational audit projects, documenting audit planning checklists, work papers, audit reports, or other audit documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program
• Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States (company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pursuing a BA, BS, or equivalent degree in accounting, finance, information systems, data analytics, or an information technology-related field
