About the role
Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) is a global function responsible for making the right credit and fraud risk decisions that uphold operational excellence, drive growth, and accelerate innovation across American Express. CFR combines technology and infrastructure with new computing techniques to make better risk decisions and provide real-time customer communications and fraud servicing.
The Risk Products team within Credit and Fraud Risk brings risk strategies to life by enabling customer-focused capabilities for Card and Non-Card products. You will collaborate with partners in other Risk teams, Marketing, Finance, Servicing, Legal/Compliance, Banking, and Technologies to create world-class analytical capabilities and solutions to minimize credit and fraud risk and improve customer experience.
Responsibilities
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Defining a clear and innovative product vision, creating and executing product roadmap, and communicating thoroughly with stakeholders.
- Supporting development of next-generation software products and solutions to solve risk management needs using the latest tools and technologies.
- Collaborating with multiple risk strategy partners, technology teams, and other product teams to build and iterate on products that directly impact millions of customers and prospects.
- Managing the implementation of risk products, driving global, reusable, and configurable design, prioritization, rationalization/globalization, feature development, testing, integration, and product launch using low-code tools.
As an intern, your day-to-day responsibilities can include:
- Coordinating calls with cross-functional teams to help define product features, user stories, and business requirements.
- Hosting daily stand-up meetings with technology partners and resolving any issues that arise during development.
- Analyzing data to assess products’ performance and make data-driven decisions regarding the product’s future state.
- Participating in team meetings, planning sessions, building relationships, and gathering insights across business functions.
- Creating decks, product requirement documentation, and status updates for leadership.
- Sharing insights, gathering feedback, and providing recommendations to leaders through presentations or reports.
This intern will have the opportunity to tackle a high-impact project aligned to our most pressing strategic and operational priorities, such as but not limited to:
- Identifying, designing, and solutioning reusable/global components within the risk product ecosystem.
- Supporting discovery of current state product and creating solutions to eliminate existing inefficiencies or pain points.
- Analyzing end-to-end core product delivery processes to optimize operating models and produce best-practice documentation for product development teams.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program.
- Bachelor’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in digital technologies and customer-driven design.
- Independent thinker who’s organized, has great attention to detail, and can multi-task.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
- Willing to take risks, experiment, and share fresh perspectives.
- Proficient in analytical and presentation tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present ideas clearly.
