About the role

Steilacoom High School is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Campus Supervisor to join our team. As one of two Campus Supervisors serving our nearly 1,000 high school students in grades 9–12, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive school climate and ensuring a secure learning environment for all. In this role, you'll provide mentorship and behavior support to students navigating challenges, helping them stay on track to graduate. Whether you bring experience from education, security, or law enforcement, we're looking for someone who is passionate about connecting with students and making a meaningful impact every day.

Schedule

• Days Per Year: 190 (aligns with the 2026–2027 student school calendar)
• Optional Training Days: 5 days
• Hours Per Day: 8.0 hours

Pay

Starting hourly pay: $32.05 – $34.28

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and behavior support to students navigating challenges.
• Foster a positive school climate and ensure a secure learning environment.
• Respond calmly and effectively to safety concerns or emergency situations, prioritizing student well-being.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student success.
• Maintain confidentiality, work effectively under pressure, and remain flexible.
• Complete required training, including Right Response Training and safety/security certifications.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high school setting or working with at-risk youth, or background in law enforcement, security services, or related fields.
• Proficient in conflict resolution and behavioral intervention strategies.
• Organized and detail-oriented with strong record-keeping skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal direction and take initiative when needed.
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
• Ability to complete Right Response Training and maintain certification.
• Ability to complete required training for safety and security staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates a deep understanding and empathy for students facing behavioral and academic challenges.
• General experience or training in instructional methodologies in reading, writing, and math.
• Knowledge of strength-focused strategies for students, including trauma-informed and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
• Demonstrated skill or experience supporting and contributing to the success of students with disabilities.
• Understanding of how injustice or racial inequity may impact students and families' experience with school.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Ability to work with minimal direction and use sound judgment and decision-making.

Desired Skills

• Experience in law enforcement, security services, or related fields, particularly in roles involving youth or educational settings.
• Familiarity with campus safety procedures and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.
• Experience and training in identifying and responding to anxiety in children.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Experience working with military-connected students and families.
• Bilingual skills.
