About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the common areas of the Residence Hall while maintaining a positive attitude and building relationships with our students. This position is responsible for cleaning all public and shared spaces of the residence hall and all exterior entries, excluding individual student dorm rooms.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum all carpeted common areas, hallways, lounges, and entryways.
• Sweep and mop stairwells, landings, and other hard-surface floors.
• Clean and sanitize all community restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, and floors.
• Empty trash and replace liners in common areas and restrooms.
• Dust and wipe down furniture, windowsills, handrails, and other surfaces in public areas.
• Clean entrances, lobbies, study areas, laundry rooms, and other shared spaces.
• Clean and maintain Laundry Room including washers and dryers.
• Spot clean doors, walls, and glass inside and outside as needed.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor, utilizing the university’s work order system.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies while following proper cleaning procedures and safety standards.
• Respond to assigned work order requests.
• Respond to supervisor’s requests for assistance in other buildings on campus.

Schedule

Typical schedule is day shift (Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm), although evening/weekend work may infrequently be requested as necessary for special events.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D. certificate.
• Experience in custodial or professional cleaning preferred.
