General Duties
- Operates various mechanical cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, etc.
- Maintains facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Disinfects high touch areas daily upon request or during seasonal issues (e.g; flu season, etc).
- Disposes of trash, waste, and other disposable materials as required.
- Cleans accessible interior and exterior windows as needed, per schedule and upon request.
- Cleans and disinfects restroom and shower facilities daily including (but not limited to); floors, wash basins, mirrors, urinals, commodes, etc.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors, stairwells, elevators, and related areas.
- Dusts and polishes furniture and required surfaces.
- Restocks paper supplies and soap in dispensers when necessary.
- Mixes and dilutes various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
- Upon request, pressure washes exterior items campus wide (including but not limited to): entryways, sidewalks, benches, windows, etc.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.
- Maintains cleaning equipment.
- Limits and unlocks assigned building(s) and interior areas per schedule or when advised by supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains the sidewalk area 15 feet from exterior doors to include shoveling snow or ice and removing leaves and other debris.
- Moves furniture as needed.
- Affords coverage to additional areas when co-workers are absent.
- Assists in the set-up and/or tear down for special events.
- Reports any needed building repairs or safety issues to supervisor.
- Complies with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.
Skills & Abilities
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to custodial work.
- Understands Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and is familiar with location and use of SDS information.
- Ability to use hand tools as necessary.
- Prioritizes tasks making sure that jobs are properly completed on schedule.
- Analyzes and resolves problems in a manner that results in minimal downtime.
- Understands and demonstrates proper and safe operation of machinery, and usage of cleaning chemicals.
- Recognizes potential solutions to problems when they arise.
- Uses knowledge and experience to identify and ultimately solve problems that are affecting equipment/process performance.
- Punctual and dependable attendance.
- Follows through on work assignments to satisfactory completion.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Able to work in extreme hot or cold areas.
- Capable of completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

- Able to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects (50 lbs.).
- Available to work after hours, holidays, and weekends when needed.
- Employees in this job classification (job title) are designated as essential employees and must report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed or delayed.

Pay
Salary Range: $24,808-$32,250
