About the role
The incumbent will perform various campus duties of a specialized nature in areas such as campus physical security, fire safety, and security staff training and development. Specific duties include overseeing system designs and specifications, conducting in-service training programs, and coordinating with external entities like the Fire Department.
Responsibilities
- Serves as equipment specialist for CCTV, lighting, access control, fire alert, and other safety systems.
- Serves as fire safety specialist and/or standpipe liaison, developing and implementing fire safety plans and conducting fire drills.
- Serves as locking specialist, researching and investigating new locking products and systems.
- Serves as physical security specialist in other designated areas of college security and safety.
- Serves as training and development specialist for security staff, reviewing new areas or procedures, and conducting training programs.
Requirements
- Two (2) years as a CUNY Campus Public Safety Sergeant or seven (7) years full-time experience in security, law enforcement, public safety, or a related field.
- Special licenses, permits, or certificates as required by certification authorities in the field of specialization.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Three (3) years progressively responsible duties directly related to the functional specialization of either physical security or security training and development.
Skills
- Knowledge of campus physical security systems.
- Ability to develop and implement fire safety plans.
- Experience in training and development of security staff.
