Campus Safety Coordinator - PT
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking Part-Time Campus Safety Coordinators for all campuses. This unarmed position reports to the Director of Campus Health, Safety and Security and focuses on maintaining a safe environment by ensuring physical security, environmental safety, and occupational safety for all campus community members.
About the Role
The Campus Safety Coordinator will be highly visible and interactive, assisting students, visitors, and employees by answering questions, providing directions, de-escalating conflicts, and referring individuals to college resources such as counseling and advising. Coordinators enforce college policies, respond to emergencies, and utilize emergency management infrastructure, including automated defibrillators, fire extinguishers, electronic access control, and mass communication systems.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day facilities, safety, and security operations; ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Respond to information requests in person, via email, and over the phone; direct visitors to appropriate locations.
- Prepare and enter information into documents, spreadsheets, databases, logs, and forms following established procedures.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and potential safety hazards; maintain related data and prepare reports.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business or a related field.
- Four years of experience in higher education, safety, facilities management, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Mobility requirement: Must remain mobile on foot during shifts, including running, climbing, and lifting people or equipment. Ability to administer first aid/CPR on the floor and drag individuals to safety if needed.
- Within six months of hire, must complete the following certifications and training:
- CPR/AED and First Aid
- RCCC Campus Safety Coordinator initial training (covers active threat response, severe weather planning, incident command, radio operations, emergency equipment, conflict de-escalation, crowd/traffic control, physical security, risk assessment, Clery Act, and Title IX)
- NIMS 700 & 800 and ICS 100 & 200
- RCCC New Hire Orientation
Minimum salary: $19.00/hour (non-exempt, part-time).
