About the Role
If you love inspiring and motivating young learners and want to put students first in education, CSUSA is the right place for you. As a Campus Monitor, you will ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and school facilities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor students within and outside the school building.
- Enforce student behavior and communicate issues regarding behavior.
- Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or any criminal activity in the school; intervene to halt or prevent such incidents.
- Oversee pick-up and drop-off procedures.
- Run detention and oversee afterschool and extracurricular activities.
- Monitor and supervise community events.
- Maintain an accurate visitor/building log and assist visitors using appropriate procedures.
- Monitor hallways and open areas during passing time.
- Monitor the cafeteria during student lunch time.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Review current developments, literature, and technical sources related to job responsibilities.
- Monitor the electronic school security system.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administrators.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 3+ years of similar experience.
- Proven experience ensuring school rules and regulations for children.
- Proven experience relating with students.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to recognize potentially unsafe or out-of-the-ordinary situations while providing security to the facility.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of fire extinguishers and how to use them properly.
- Ability to identify authorized vehicles and persons designated to be on premises during a shift.
- Must be alert, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
- Computer skills as required for the position (e.g., Windows Explorer, MS Word, electronic school security system).
- Strong track record for analyzing complex problems/issues, identifying patterns, and recommending creative solutions.
- Availability to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Ability to work and interact with individuals, especially students, at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive security reports.
- Ability to establish a set of operating principles and routines, driving projects to completion while insisting on the highest level of quality.
- Ability to consistently be at work, be on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: courteous, professional, and helpful; strong oral, written, interpersonal (active listening), negotiating, and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of Federal, State, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law preferred.
