About the role
The Campus Maintenance Manager oversees multiple trade shops in Campus Maintenance, including the Electrical Shop, Plumbing Shop, Carpentry/Insulation Shop, Exteriors Shop, Masonry Shop, and the 2nd shift Maintenance Shop. This unit provides maintenance and repair services for over 18 million square feet of campus property and satellite locations.
Responsibilities
- Delivers high-level maintenance and repair services for buildings and supporting systems.
- Manages multi-trade shops with an approximate staff of 96 positions and a total operating budget of approximately $2 million.
- Ensures compliance with University, town, county, and state laws, ordinances, codes, and policies.
- Trains employees to keep up with NC State Board of Examiners, OSHA, DENR, and manufacturer factory certification standards.
- Evaluates opportunities for cross-training, staff assignments, and career development programs.
- Works with senior leadership to maintain a high-performance service culture.
- Fosters a safe, respectful work environment that values employees.
- Communicates effectively and motivates staff to provide customer service and continuous quality improvement.
- Provides timely direction for assigned staff and conducts efficiency studies.
- Establishes and compares workflows, response times, customer satisfaction, and operating metrics.
- Performs detailed budget analysis and evaluates proposed project investments.
Requirements
A valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
