Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians, maintenance planner and MRO crib, including personnel and machine maintenance schedule.
- This is a hands-on working supervisor/manager role. Set daily and long-term tasks, directions, and goals for the team utilizing a maintenance work order system.
- Design and implement a training program for maintenance technicians that span general troubleshooting procedures to specific key skills needed to solve recurring machine breakdowns efficiently and permanently.
- Hire, coach, and develop our maintenance team into world class talents to include the establishment of a long term journeymen apprentice program.
- Improve and schedule Preventative/Predictive Maintenance programs of manufacturing machines to be on-time and of the highest quality and effectiveness based on data (MTTR, MTBF).
- Foster a culture of root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and discipline in the maintenance teams through regular training and feedback to team members.
- Lead root cause analysis of poorly understood machine breakdown events and recurring problems to design countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Provide support to technicians to ensure timely installation of new equipment and effective implementation of changes in maintenance process.
- Day to day support to Production in timely order fulfillment through rapid response on machine breakdowns that minimize downtimes and maximize productivity.
- Standardize routine maintenance work through development of clear SOPs and its implementation.
- OEE improvement in increased machine uptime through scheduled/planned maintenance of machines based on data driven by MTTR and MTBF.
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to design and implement machine improvements that reduce cycle times or increase reliability of production machines.
- Develop and maintain proper documentation of procedures, equipment changes, maintenance tasks, etc.
- Set up, maintain and update spare parts inventory through our MRP Tracking System (SAP) utilizing a min/max inventory process reorder process driven by MTBF.
- Ensure compliance with all related IATF-16949, ISO 45001 and ISO-14001 policies and procedures.
Education / Experience
- BS Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent years of experience in high volume manufacturing accepted.
- High sense of urgency
- 2+ years experience in supervision and management of direct reports
- 5+ years experience as maintenance technician or engineering in high volume manufacturing, industrial, or military environment is highly desired
- Able to clearly identify and articulate problems and propose solutions backed by a data-driven process
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously involving cross-functional teams in Production, Quality, and Engineering
- Experience in implementing, and scheduling successful Preventative Maintenance programs
- Skilled at troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and controls systems; Allen-Bradley and Siemens HMI and PLC certifications a plus
- Highly organized with strong record-keeping skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to direct reports and to management
- Demonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC and 24 VDC systems
- Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams
- Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- CAD experience is a plus
- SAP or similar software for consumable parts and maintenance planning experience
- Work directly with Engineering Manager on equipment installations such as utility requirements, product specific controls (example: humidity controls), Tool Crib MRO requirements, new items stocking and level requirements.
- Work directly with Engineering Manager on managing 3rd party contractors supporting equipment installations and facilities improvements in support of operational growth & continuous improvement.
