About the role
The University of North Carolina Charlotte is seeking a Campus Land Planner to contribute to the physical growth and strategic vision of the university.
Job Duties
- Serve as a key advisor on campus planning initiatives, guiding land use decisions, campus development, and landscape planning that align with the university's long-term strategic vision.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Facilities Management—including Grounds, Engineering, Sustainability, Maintenance Operations, and Planning—as well as university leadership and external design consultants to guide projects from early planning through implementation.
- Influence campus master planning, feasibility studies, outdoor spaces, and future development, ensuring thoughtful, sustainable, and innovative growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years of professional experience in campus planning, land planning, landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience coordinating planning, design, or construction projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of land use planning, site development, and campus or institutional planning principles.
- The ability to interpret technical documents and communicate planning concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible planning or design experience.
- Experience developing campus master plans, landscape master plans, or institutional planning initiatives.
- Experience working within higher education, public sector, or similarly complex organizations.
- Licensed, or the ability to obtain licensure, to practice landscape architecture through the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects.
Salary
$79,000 to $90,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
