About the role

Responsible for managing parking and transit, trademarks and licensing, and providing essential support for materials movement and event coordination. Delivers exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors, addressing and resolving issues. Campus ambassadors greet, assist, and offer guidance to ASU customers as they move across campus. Employees in this role provide a reliable, highly visible, service and safety-oriented presence for staff, students, visitors, and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge students, staff, visitors, and faculty with a friendly warm greeting, introducing yourself, and presenting a professional image in appearance and communication.
  • Utilize effective communication to convey help and approachability.
  • Ensure highest quality service delivered to customers for assigned function in accordance with specified guidelines and priorities.
  • Apply knowledge of policies and processes to educate and inform users.
  • Monitor and enforce unauthorized wheels in the Walk Only Zone (WOZ). Educate violators in a positive, non-combative manner.
  • Interact with the public to answer routine university-related questions and offer assistance to students, faculty, and staff, directing them to helpful resources.
  • Promote pedestrian safety.
  • Perform routine checks of surrounding buildings near each delta during slower periods (non-class changes).
  • Be flexible during daily activities with the ability to change priorities, including resolving conflicts with customers.
  • Monitor activity around assigned station in the Zone.
  • Encourage compliance and behavior change to cyclists and scooters in the WOZ (Campus Mall Enforcement).
  • Deploy and collect WOZ signage.
  • Help keep emergency access ways clear.
  • Observe and report any damaged ASU property such as bollards, signs, graffiti, etc.
  • Perform minor cleaning and equipment maintenance of WOZ signs and graphics.
  • Use a computer daily for attendance and timekeeping.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Staff special events and perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Drive Arizona State University leased, owned, or rented vehicles and carts to various ASU locations to perform work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; ASU will not sponsor this position.
  • Possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
  • This position is 100% outdoors. Must be able to tolerate all weather conditions including heat, rain, and cold.
  • The majority of the shift will be standing and walking.

Pay

$20.00 per hour

About the department

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) plays an integral role in support of the development of Arizona State University by managing the parking and commuter options on the four campuses. PTS manages a 24,000+ parking inventory system-wide and strongly encourages the use of more environmentally friendly transportation options by subsidizing programs such as intercampus shuttles, carpool, car-sharing, and public transit. These services assist ASU students, faculty, and staff in traveling to, around, and between campuses. PTS also provides ambassador and bike valet services to ensure a culture of safety for all pedestrians navigating the most populated campus areas. PTS employees work in a dynamic and rapidly expanding University department.
