Camps & Clinics Team Lead (volunteer)
Leveling the Fields is a programs-focused nonprofit dedicated to increasing the number of girls in sports, recognizing the strong correlation between sports participation and future leadership roles. We are committed to breaking down barriers and providing universal access to sports, regardless of financial constraints, geographical limitations, or lack of options. Through our EmpowerPlay and PlayFit programs, we aim to get more girls into sports, keep them engaged, and equip them with the tools needed to thrive as future leaders. EmpowerPlay The EmpowerPlay Program is a dynamic multi-sport after-school program aimed at empowering girls through athletics and is designed specifically for girls in 3rd through 5th grade. The program is run onsite at the elementary school. Over the nine weeks, participants learn the fundamentals of each sport while building teamwork and confidence. Our program is designed to foster self-acceptance, positive body image, and good sportsmanship through our unique empowerment journal. For girls in low-income areas, the program is offered at no cost to families. PlayFit The PlayFit Enrichment Program is a weekly add-on designed to complement existing after-school programs, offering a fun and engaging way for 3rd-5th grade girls to stay active and build confidence. The program focuses on a single sport, allowing participants to deepen their skills, and is available in a 6-week or 8-week format. With on-site coaching and equipment provided, PlayFit makes it easy for girls to explore sports and develop teamwork and leadership skills. Designed to be accessible for all, this program brings empowerment and physical activity directly to your after-school care.
About the Role
We’re looking for an organized, relationship-focused volunteer to lead the team planning and delivering our summer camps and clinics. - Provide recreation partners with program descriptions, proposed pricing, schedules, and required paperwork in time for their planning and registration cycles.
- Coordinate the summer camp and clinic calendar across locations, working with partners and the LTF team to confirm dates, spaces, and program details.
- Supervise the volunteer Coach Recruiter, who will help identify and secure head and assistant coaches for each camp.
- Confirm that coaching needs are filled and that every coach attends preseason training.
- Make sure equipment, supplies, T-shirts, and other materials are ordered, organized, and ready for each camp.
- Help the team address issues that come up during the season and gather feedback to improve future camps.
Requirements
- Enjoy leading a team and keeping many moving pieces organized.
- Communicate clearly and follow through with community partners.
- Can anticipate deadlines and take action before something becomes urgent.
- Care about giving girls positive sports experiences.
- Have experience in youth sports, recreation, events, or program coordination.
- Familiarity with the Charleston area is a plus.
Schedule
Volunteer role with planning throughout the year and increased activity before and during the summer camp season. Some availability during camp hours will be helpful, though the role does not require leading every camp in person.
