Camp Ranger - Maripai

Essential Functions

  • Provide site maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Aid all visiting individuals and groups to ensure hospitality, safety, health, and security standards are met.
  • Open and close designated areas and facilities according to scheduled needs.
  • Perform repairs to buildings and equipment and purchase required supplies as directed.
  • Ensure the camp is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes, safety activity checkpoints, and American Camp Association standards.
  • Check and stock buildings with janitorial supplies, re-stock as needed.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Provide assistance to other Camp Managers as directed.
  • Aid with fire safety, winterization and season transitions and checks – i.e., replace furnace filters, batteries in smoke alarms or install new smoke/fire alarms when needed.

Summer Camp (additional)

  • Participate in emergency response exercises and be prepared to assume assigned responsibilities in the event of an emergency.
  • Aid with all aspects of the horse program.
  • Aid with the arrival and departure of campers.
  • Transport and load/unload canoes and other equipment at nearby lake.
  • Aid with all post-camp breakdown, clean up, and inventory replenishment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Commitment to the aims and purposes of the Girl Scout movement.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the goals, objectives, and desired outcomes of the Girl Scout movement.
  • Commitment to, and understanding of, the importance of being a professional role model.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license, insurance, a proven safe driving record (39-month MVR), and reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Maintain current membership in the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
  • Must be willing to learn and use the competencies essential to GSACPC’s theory of change models and learning organization culture.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Physical Demands

  • Good physical condition, including the ability to lift more than 50 pounds without difficulty.
  • Ability to walk, run, climb ladders, and do other physical work outdoors in adverse climates for hours at a time.
