Essential Responsibilities

  • Aid in de-escalating day-to-day behavioral incidents.
  • Implement preventative social emotional strategies for campers.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and modeling for counselors.
  • Create behavior strategies for children while promoting a positive environment.
  • Maintain documentation and records of office visitations, incident reports, and behavior referrals.
  • Support the implementation of camp-wide positive behavior support systems.
  • Meet with parents and staff to create a collaborative approach to managing behaviors.
  • Participate in camp activities and staff meetings.
  • Attend camper field trips.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of child-related work experience, including working with children with emotional and/or behavioral concerns.
  • An understanding of positive behavior approaches.
  • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors 90% of the day.
  • Experience working with children on the autism spectrum age 5-13.
  • Preferred: Multi-lingual skills, previous summer camp experience, Registered Behavior Technician experience, and experience working with children on the autism spectrum age 2-18.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Degree preferred in behavioral/social sciences, child development, counseling, psychology, or education.
