Essential Responsibilities
- Aid in de-escalating day-to-day behavioral incidents.
- Implement preventative social emotional strategies for campers.
- Provide ongoing training, support, and modeling for counselors.
- Create behavior strategies for children while promoting a positive environment.
- Maintain documentation and records of office visitations, incident reports, and behavior referrals.
- Support the implementation of camp-wide positive behavior support systems.
- Meet with parents and staff to create a collaborative approach to managing behaviors.
- Participate in camp activities and staff meetings.
- Attend camper field trips.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of child-related work experience, including working with children with emotional and/or behavioral concerns.
- An understanding of positive behavior approaches.
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors 90% of the day.
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum age 5-13.
- Preferred: Multi-lingual skills, previous summer camp experience, Registered Behavior Technician experience, and experience working with children on the autism spectrum age 2-18.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Degree preferred in behavioral/social sciences, child development, counseling, psychology, or education.
