About the role
The Calumet County School Psychologist provides direct and indirect psychological counseling and consultation to students, teachers, and parents to address adjustment, behavior, and learning issues. They collaborate with educators, parents, and community agencies to promote healthy school environments and improve student learning and behavior.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychological counseling and assistance to students and families dealing with crises.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to find solutions to learning and behavior problems.
- Develop partnerships with parents and teachers to foster a supportive school community.
- Conduct psycho-educational evaluations and assessments to assist in educational decision-making.
- Select, administer, and interpret assessment instruments in a professionally appropriate manner.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of academic and behavior management programs and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Provide academic and behavioral interventions to students to maximize their learning and adjustment.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through ongoing staff development and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in and contribute to the planning, evaluation, and implementation of school and District programs.
- Communicate with parents to inform them about the school program and discuss student progress.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through staff development and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Act as a positive role model for students in citizenship, ethical principles, and democratic values.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Psychology or related field.
- Experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities.
- Knowledge of district-adopted curriculum and teaching strategies.
- Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying department policies and regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the public.
- Ability to lead and manage others effectively.
- Ability to apply laws of confidentiality appropriately.
