About the Role
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital's staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals.
The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Operator Services department consists of professional, friendly Customer Service Personnel, Operators, Leads, Coordinator, and Supervisor. This department provides professional, courteous, fast, and friendly customer service, serving as the connection between patients, families, and staff for both general and emergent information.
Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- One weekday off per week
- Must work every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
- Mandatory overtime required
- Works 3 major holidays per year
- Must be able to train on days, evenings, and overnights
Responsibilities
- Answers and directs all inquiries from patients, visitors, physicians, and staff to appropriate locations using an online database and printed directories.
- Answers incoming calls according to department guidelines.
- Provides paging service.
- Performs clerical duties, organizes, and maintains records.
- Ensures customers receive exceptional service through consistent performance, answering, directing, and paging according to customer requests.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- 2-5 years of experience (preferred)
- No supervisory experience required
