About the role
We are seeking a Calibration Technician II to join the Pharmaceutical Calibrations and Instrumentation (PCI) team. This position requires up to 75% travel to perform calibrations, qualifications, relocations, and maintenance on a variety of instruments in pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environments. The role involves preventive maintenance, qualifications, and troubleshooting/repairs, with a focus on maintaining accurate and timely GxP documentation.
Responsibilities
- Completes calibrations, maintenance, qualifications, and troubleshooting/repairs in a safe, timely, and accurate manner, following PCI and client specific policies and procedures.
- Works to understand client needs and requirements through effective communication and develops client relationships through excellent customer service.
- Maintains a neat and professional PCI work area and projects a professional image at all times.
- Attunes to potential new opportunities for PCI when at a client site or interacting with a client and relays this lead back to Leader/Manager.
- Completes timesheets with correct labor code charges (weekly) and assists other PCI Associates in proper coding of time and expenses.
- Responsible for proper handling and maintenance of PCI and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
- Able to identify and report any safety issues at the work site, including educating peers on safety practices.
Requirements
- A two-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent military training and two years of applicable (Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration) experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Quality System/Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
Skills
- Traceability, Substitution of Standards, and Test Accuracy and Uncertainty Ratios.
- Pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation; as well as manual and computer-based process control loops and systems; understands and applies basic concepts of calibration and requirements including accuracy testing.
- Instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
- Ability to climb stairs; climb on equipment such as tanks. Moderate to heavy lifting.
- Electrical panel knowledge and electrical safety procedures.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Able to make independent decisions within defined scope of work, seeks clarification and directions when needed. Must be self-driven and demonstrate ability to work with little direction.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding and application of GMP’s and Life Science Industry regulations.
- Basic understanding and application of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
- Basic understanding of calibration concepts and requirements including accuracy testing requirements.
