Calibration Technician II

Reports directly to the Team Leader, Manager, or Director. This is a non-exempt position with up to 50% travel required based on project and client needs. Eligible for company vehicle.

About the Role

Calibration Technicians complete calibrations, qualifications, and preventive maintenance (PMs) with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI and/or client-specific policies and procedures. The Technician II is expected to take a proactive role in supporting the team and providing client support, building trust through PCI Values: Honesty, Integrity, Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment.

This role requires a broader knowledge base of instrumentation and regulatory compliance, including training on new instrumentation and understanding pharmaceutical and FDA requirements. Increased client interaction is expected, along with a deeper understanding of PCI’s services and how clients can expand their use.

Responsibilities

• With minor supervision, complete calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI or client-specific policies and procedures, and in a safe manner.
• Perform flow, conductivity, pH, mass, and dimensional calibrations with guidance.
• Identify and relay potential new opportunities for PCI when at a client site or interacting with a client.
• Complete timesheets with correct labor code charges weekly and assist other PCI Associates in proper coding of time and expenses.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of PCI and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
• Learn to troubleshoot and perform repairs, though the majority of work will remain scheduled calibrations and maintenance events.
• Identify and report any safety issues at the work site, including educating peers on safety practices.

• Expanded understanding of traceability, substitution of standards, and test accuracy and uncertainty ratios.
• Expanded understanding of calibration concepts and requirements, including accuracy testing requirements.
• Able to make independent decisions within defined scope of work; seeks clarification when needed.
• Self-driven with the ability to work with little direction.
• Basic understanding and application of GMPs and life science industry regulations.
• Basic understanding and application of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.

Requirements

• A two-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent military training.
• Two years of applicable experience in metrology, instrumentation, or calibration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Quality system or pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
