Calibration Technician II

About the role

We are seeking a Calibration Technician II to perform calibrations, vendor assistance, and data/documentation onsite at our client pharmaceutical facilities in Norwood, MA and other nearby sites as needed. This is a field-service position with up to 50% travel, though it is projected to be at least 75% in the Boston metro area. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, qualifications, relocations, and calibrations of instruments such as electronics, temperature devices, pressure gauges, centrifuges, incubators, and balances in pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environments. This is a full-time, hourly position.

Calibration Technicians are expected to complete tasks with accurate and timely GxP documentation while upholding PCI Values: Honesty, Integrity, Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment. The Technician II role requires a broader knowledge of instrumentation and regulatory compliance, increased client interaction, and a deeper understanding of PCI’s services.

Responsibilities

• Complete calibrations, maintenance, qualifications, commissioning, and troubleshooting/repairs safely, timely, and accurately, following PCI and client-specific policies.
• Understand client needs through effective communication and build client relationships via excellent customer service.
• Maintain a neat and professional PCI work area and project a professional image at all times.
• Identify and relay potential new opportunities for PCI while at client sites.
• Perform calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate GxP documentation under minor supervision.
• Conduct flow, conductivity, pH, mass, and dimensional calibrations with guidance.
• Complete weekly timesheets with correct labor code charges and assist other PCI Associates with proper coding.
• Handle and maintain PCI and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs, though most work will involve scheduled calibrations and maintenance.
• Identify and report safety issues at work sites, including educating peers on safety practices.

Requirements

• Two-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field OR equivalent military training and two years of applicable (Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration) experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Quality System/Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to climb stairs, equipment (e.g., tanks), and perform moderate to heavy lifting.
• Knowledge of electrical panels and electrical safety procedures.
• Reliable, confident, eager to learn, and enjoy working with people.
• Self-driven with the ability to work with little direction and make independent decisions within defined scope.

Skills

• Traceability, substitution of standards, and test accuracy/uncertainty ratios.
• Pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation; manual and computer-based process control loops.
• Instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
• Basic understanding of GMPs and Life Science Industry regulations.
• Basic calibration concepts, including accuracy testing requirements.
• Expanded understanding of calibration concepts, traceability, and regulatory compliance.

Pay

The typical estimated total compensation for this position is $72,000 - $86,000 per year. No specific amount is guaranteed.
