Cage Wash Technician

Key Purposes

The Vivarium Cage Wash Technician is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining all animal caging materials, cagewash equipment, and vivarium spaces to support scientific research. Under the general direction of the lead technician and the overall direction of the supervisor, this position shall be responsible for the hands-on execution of all room cleaning/sanitizations in the Vivarium and surrounding areas.

Ideal Candidate Experience

  • Must be 18 years of age, or older
  • Related GMP manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated professional environment
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
  • Ability to read, write, speak English, and communicate effectively required
  • Understand that safety is a top priority and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Must be a team player and committed to working in a quality environment
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures is a plus
  • AALAS Certification a plus

  • Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds (with assistance of material handling equipment)
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 to 50 pounds
  • Frequently lift 0-10 pounds
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods
  • Work in a cold, wet environment
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends
  • May be required to work in a confined area
