About the role
Combine hands-on food service experience with coaching, mentorship, and community-based mental health services as the Café & Culinary Skills Coordinator at Café Aroma. This role blends daily kitchen and café operations with teaching and supporting individuals participating in the program.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen and café operations while creating a welcoming and supportive environment
- Teach cooking, baking, cleaning, food preparation, and café skills to individuals in the program
- Train and support counselors, relief staff, and interns in cooking and café operations
- Develop weekly menus and introduce seasonal menu options
- Manage food and supply inventory, shopping needs, and the kitchen budget
- Help create a culinary training and certificate program for individuals served
- Lead social and interactive groups within the café
- Maintain food safety, Board of Health, and program standards
- Help grow Café Aroma and expand its lunch offerings
Requirements
- Experience in food service, restaurant operations, or kitchen-style cooking
- Enjoys teaching, coaching, and working with others
- Experience working with individuals with mental health or developmental disability needs
- Ability to manage menus, inventory, food costs, and a kitchen budget
- ServSafe Manager certified or able to obtain certification within the first three months
- Comfortable using basic computer programs and staying organized
