CADD Technician - Power Services

Responsibilities

• Gather information from various record drawings, GIS maps, Google Earth and other sources
• Investigate project needs and provide solutions to complete the assigned project
• Determine Right-of-Way requirements for project design
• Conduct project site visits to take photos, verify utility locations, take field measurements, verify power pole equipment
• Compare survey file provided, with photos and research data to determine if it is up to date and an accurate representation of existing conditions
• Use available standards to create base files and necessary subsequent files
• Use all available data from research to determine possible design conflicts
• Auxiliary in designing underground electric projects using MicroStation software
• Auxiliary in preparing typical support drawings using available standards and procedures
• Address review comments from senior staff, client and other reviewers
• Prepare schematic plans or sketches using available standards and procedures
• Catalog final signed and sealed drawings
• Conduct peer to peer reviews

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Have or are working towards a 2-year construction/engineering related degree or certificate preferred but not required
• 2 years relevant experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency using various computer

• Good computer literacy and are not afraid to learn new programs and skills
• A good communicator who not only has oral and written skills but are also an excellent listener with above average comprehension
• Mathematics comes naturally to you and is used for problem-solving and analysis
• A critical thinker who can apply knowledge to new assignments and uses critical thinking to bring everything together
