CADD Technician II, Land Development / Public Works
About the role
This position is responsible in providing support in the advancement of Halff's technical abilities for land development / Public Works and related discipline planning and design projects.
Responsibilities
- Make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials, recognized industry standards, and construction practices.
- Recommends and implements design changes to resolve field problems and may require field verification work.
- Create base maps, drawings and designs for land development projects, including: drawing setup for preliminary and construction plan sets, including sheet layout, setup of both model space and paper space, manage xrefs, incorporate redlines and design provided by the Project Manager.
- Create preliminary and construction plan sets, including; horizontal control, grading and drainage, erosion control plans, utility and roadway profiles and cross-sections, topographic maps and design details and notes.
- Assist with engineering projects that may include, but are not limited to: roadway, highway, airport, utility, land development, landfill and site development.
- Adhere to project deadlines and keep supervising staff informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
- Execute and adhere to quality assurance requirements.
- Aid in training and supervision of CAD and graphics personnel.
- Aid in maintaining CAD standards.
- Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of graphics and CAD engineering plans.
- Maintain technical knowledge with regard to computers, software, and design techniques.
- Learn and adapt to new programs and adjust to changes in product and client demands.
- Collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
- Effectively communicate with others, complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years progressive CAD design experience in the civil engineering field.
- Candidates with extensive professional experience are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD (Civil3D), and other related design software applications required, GIS considered a plus.
- Thorough knowledge and accurate use of civil drafting techniques, computer operations, and civil engineering practices.
- Knowledge of the terminology, techniques and practices used in various types of construction relating to land development including the ability to develop, read, and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
Qualifications
Knowledge of municipal and state design standards and codes, including ADA compliance design standards.
Skills
Must be able to collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
Effectively communicate with others, complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
