CAD Technician

About the role
We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Greater Washington Community Building team. In this role, you will develop engineering plans, drawings, and construction documents for site development projects that help shape vibrant, functional communities. This position offers hybrid work flexibility and may support projects and teams throughout the Greater Washington region.
Responsibilities
- Develop CAD plans, details, and layouts for a variety of civil site development projects.
- Prepare and revise plan sheets for grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and other site improvements.
- Translate engineering direction, design information, calculations, sketches, and redlines into clear and accurate drawings.
- Use programs such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and InRoads to create and maintain project drawings.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, project managers, and other disciplines to support drawing reviews, incorporate feedback, and maintain quality and consistency.
- Assist with organizing drawing sets, maintaining drafting standards, and supporting project deliverables.
Requirements
- Associate degree in engineering technology, civil engineering, drafting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of CAD design or drafting experience, preferably supporting civil site development projects.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following programs: Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads. Versatility across multiple platforms is highly valued.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred but not required.
- Experience preparing plans for grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, or other site improvements.
- Ability to interpret engineering markups and technical information and translate them into accurate, well-organized drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and an interest in continuing to learn and grow professionally.

Pay
Hourly Range: $38—$45 USD. Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually.
