CAD Designer
About the Role
Assist with designing components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate operations. Gather information, make studies, compute calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals. Interpret structural drawings and sketches to convert into pre-fabrication packages using AutoCad, Inventor, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and CAD/CAM Nesting Software for burn-table programs. Communicate requirements and designs with Operations and Craft teams and may attend ship checks as needed.

- Communicate design requirements with Operations and Craft teams.
- Attend ship checks as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and 3 years of work experience or equivalent experience.
- Good working knowledge/experience with AutoCad, Inventor, 3D Drafting, and Adobe software.
- Good working knowledge/experience in blueprint reading.
- Extensive computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in math and geometry.
- Good working knowledge of ships configuration and layout.
- Ability to read and understand work specifications, including NAVSEA Standard Items and Military Standards.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to inspect areas on ships and create legible hand sketches.
Preferred Qualifications
- Drafting certificate.
- Shipfitting/welding structural craft experience.
- Expert knowledge/experience with AutoCad.
- Expert knowledge/experience in NAVSEA blueprint reading.
- Proficiency with Book of Offsets.
- Deep understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items and Military Standards.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $40,003 - $64,006. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
