Cable Assembly Planner

Location: Wallingford, CT • Full-time • 1st Shift • Salaried Exempt

About the Role

The Cable Assembly Planner establishes priorities and coordinates the flow of work and materials based on daily and weekly production schedules. The planner updates and maintains scheduled shipments to meet customer delivery expectations.

Responsibilities

• Establishes production schedules considering customer requests, demands, and existing capacity; collaborates with Production.
• Interacts with shop floor management regularly to resolve issues and achieve daily production requirements.
• Works with Inventory/Stockroom to address component shortages.
• Analyzes and prepares production documents (work instructions, travelers, etc.).
• Drives achievement of revenue and on-time delivery targets.
• Monitors and manages all open orders with a detailed understanding of assigned backlog.
• Adjusts scheduled ship dates in the ERP system in real time; advises Sales of relevant changes.
• Assesses feasibility of expedite requests; responds to Inside Sales within 24 hours.
• Assists Sales with forecasting and safety stock analysis.
• Directs Purchasing for component expedites and appropriate order quantities to ensure material availability.
• Performs data analysis and makes decisions to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
• Maintains the production schedule and other required reports.
• Follows up with all teams to expedite materials and documents to meet production schedules and customer expectations.

Requirements

• Previous Production Planning experience, especially in a manufacturing environment, strongly preferred.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel.
• Proficiency using ERP Systems.
• High sense of urgency and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks under strict deadlines.
• Customer service-oriented.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
• Able to manage time and priorities effectively.
