About the role
The Cabinet Maker I position at GAC Savannah offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects within a dynamic team. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in their technical skills while contributing to the fabrication of aircraft cabinets.
Responsibilities
- Learns and performs basic skills and functions related to aircraft cabinetmaking.
- Develops proficiency in preparing and making furniture using design and engineering drawings, tools, and materials.
- Utilizes the material tracking system to manage parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.
- Ensures compliance with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and uses personal protective equipment.
- Aids in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Wood working, wood finishing, or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment, or completion of a Technical Certificate in cabinet making preferred.
- Completion of a current year youth apprenticeship program in the area of expertise is also acceptable.
- The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
- Must be computer literate.
