Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform necessary preparations for daily operations based on orders and production schedules.
- Reviews daily production schedules at shift exchange meeting.
- Maintain control over process operations and coordinate appropriate work of Process Technicians and Support Personnel, including line personnel.
- Assign work, communicate instructions, ensure the quality and quantity of output and maintain effective flow of work.
- Demonstrate good communication skills in writing, speaking, and listening. Respectful of others, listen and respond with empathy to their needs and direct any necessary action when appropriate.
- Conduct basic repairs, equipment and process adjustments, and process checks to ensure effective set ups and changeovers, machine and equipment operation, film and paper changes, quality of work and output, etc.
- Work collaboratively with Maintenance to follow up on equipment downtime and prevent future downtime occurrences.
- Responsible for changeovers, Machine and equipment operation, film, quality of work and output.
- Maintain all production records incidental to department operation and submit paperwork as required.
- Maintain a safe work environment and promote safe work habits for production and sanitation employees. Enforce and monitor safety rules.
- Ensure that all aspects of our operations are within the Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines established by Sargento and within compliance of requirements dictated by the FDA, USDA, WDA, and OSHA.
- Assure product conformance to established quality specifications through effective on-line monitoring of processes.
- Assist in making departmental changes to S.O.P.’s, production work orders, product specifications and other departmental documents as needed.
- May conduct samples and costing with the Sample Department, Production Supervisor, and Department Manager.
- Assist Research and Development in the coordination and running of plant trials.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional departments including Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Production Scheduling and Cost Accounting to support and improve the Core Products.
- Provide support across all three shifts in the department. Willing to work on other shifts to provide training or leadership as deemed necessary.

- Actively able to perform essential job functions as determined by Human Resources.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Demonstrating/training for two (2) to six (6) employees on each shift.
- Ensuring employees follow company policies regarding Safety, Quality, and GMPs.
- Recommending team members for specific assignments based on assessment of individual skills and abilities.
- Cooordinating and assuring completion of work and recommending evaluation of performance of team members.
- Providing direction or advice on work processes, content, issues, and problems.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Machine Specialist and Leadership Quadrant completion preferred.
- Intro to Mechanical Systems, Safety of Mechanical Systems, Lubricant Fundamentals, Applications for bearings, springs, belt drives, and gears preferred.
- Previous Leadership experience preferred.
- A Minimum of 1year experience in production, maintenance, sanitation, related experience preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate simple fractions.
- Reasoning Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: The Team Leader is required to obtain the Process Technician Leadership quadrant within one year of acceptance of the Team Leader position. The Team Leader is required to obtain the Process Technician Machine Specialist quadrant within two years of acceptance of the Team Leader position. Forklift certification is required.
