About the role

The internship program offers a glimpse into the day-to-day of a full-time Associate in the Buying Department at Burlington Stores. It provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to various aspects of the retail industry.

Responsibilities

  • Support the buying team in merchandise selection, negotiation, and pricing.
  • Avoid assisting in planning/coordination of availability of products for advertising and promotion.
  • Avoid assisting in assortment and category planning that meets customer demand.
  • Avoid preparing trend boards for strategy meetings by researching trends to plan for seasonal buys.
  • Avoid updating and tracking purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Avoid travel to market visits 1-2 days per week to visit vendors and assist in selecting and negotiating product that meets customer demands and is priced competitively.
  • Avoid participating in competitive shopping visits and assisting in identifying product opportunities, labels, and trends.
  • Avoid collaborating for success; teamwork within our department is key to success and you will work with several functional areas within the department for input, ideas, and to execute your assignments.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Economics, or related fields.
  • Relevant coursework and transferable skills will also be considered.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Data-driven problem-solver who can build and maintain productive partnerships by living our core values.

Schedule

A hybrid model that mirrors our full-time associates and is 2-3 days in-office. This schedule can be subject to change. (Relocation benefits are available for those who are eligible).
