About the role
This is a Temporary Supply Chain Specialist opportunity that has the possibility of converting to Regular Full-Time.
Responsibilities
- Analyze demand forecasts and MRP/MPS output to develop purchasing and inventory plans that ensure material availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Lead supplier sourcing, RFQ/RFP processes, and bid analysis to identify and qualify suppliers that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and pricing agreements within scope of authority to secure the most favorable business terms, including cost, quality, and availability.
- Confer with vendors on product information, lead times, and delivery schedules, and review quotes for accuracy and competitive positioning.
- Develop and maintain strategic, long-term supplier relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new suppliers to strengthen the supply base and mitigate single-source risk.
- Track and manage supplier ship commitments, escalating and expediting as needed to ensure parts availability against production build plans.
- Support supplier qualification, incoming material control, and material review board (MRB) disposition in partnership with Quality.
- Partner with Legal to ensure contracts are routed for appropriate review and signature.
- Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve procure-to-pay issues and improve payment cycle efficiency.
- Lead implementation of improved Procure-to-Pay processes and controls, leveraging ERP/MRP systems and tools.
- Monitor and report key supply chain metrics (inventory turns, days of inventory, on-time delivery, fill rate) and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
- Participate in S&OP and lean manufacturing initiatives, providing supply chain data and analysis to support cross-functional planning decisions.
- Directly impact product quality by vetting suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, and maintaining the quality standards Visby has set for purchased materials and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory turns, days of inventory, and other supply chain KPIs, with the ability to analyze data and drive improvement.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment within an ISO-regulated industry (medical device strongly preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs; advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP formulas) required.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and hands-on experience with MRP systems required; experience with SAP or similar ERP platforms (Oracle, NetSuite) is desirable.
- APICS/CSCP or CPSM certification is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and build positive relationships with suppliers.
Pay
$55 - $70 an hour
