Buyer - Strategic Purchasing

About the role

Strategic Buyer contract position in Greensboro, NC, 100% onsite. The role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiations, and cost reduction within an assigned commodity or purchasing category.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing activities within an assigned commodity or purchasing category.
• Identify and drive cost-reduction and sourcing opportunities.
• Develop and implement purchasing and commodity strategies.
• Build and manage strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate supplier contracts and commercial terms.
• Coordinate supplier integration plans with internal teams.
• Monitor market conditions that may impact material/service availability and pricing.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing requirements and define supplier expectations.
• Analyze marketplace trends and supplier capabilities.
• Establish supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support procurement transformation, digitalization, and sustainability initiatives as needed.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience.
• Experience with strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
• Strong understanding of procurement and purchasing processes.
• Experience driving cost savings or cost-reduction initiatives.
• Supplier relationship management experience.

Skills

• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
• Experience with commodity/category purchasing is a plus.

Pay

$40 - $47 per hour
