This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain across all Blue Origin facilities.

About the role

This role will support developing the supply chain for multiple space vehicle subsystems. Our Buyer Sr will work closely with technical stakeholders to understand roadmap and synergies across platforms, ensuring program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed. They will be competent in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Key responsibilities include preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis, developing negotiation strategies, and leading formal negotiations. The Buyer Sr constructs various contracting types for major procurement activities, including long-range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, and continuous improvement initiatives. They take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices and resolve issues within this process.

They will lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (e.g., Long-Term Agreements) and support the procurement organization’s strategic direction to ensure corporate objectives are met, including on-time delivery of production materials within budget and technical performance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply company policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards, and U.S. government regulations (e.g., FAR, DFAR, ITAR/EAR, SOX Compliance).
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives within the supply chain department.
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records.
  • Establish and track program metrics using strong analytical and data-driven skills.
  • Leverage AI to augment processes and reporting.
  • Work with Engineering Data such as specifications and source control drawings.
  • Identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently.
  • Work with different systems (e.g., ERP, MS Office, Data Analytics) and recommend improvements for both systems and processes.
  • Earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, or related industry.
  • Experience preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis, and developing negotiation strategies.
  • Experience constructing various contracting types for major procurement activities, including long-range procurement agreements and sourcing partnerships.
  • Deep ERP experience and adeptness at working with different systems.
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker with a passion for solving problems end-to-end.
  • Working understanding of AS9100 standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access.
  • Space industry experience.
  • Prior operations or engineering experience.

Pay

  • CA applicants: $115,256.00 - $161,357.70
  • CO applicants: $105,977.00 - $148,367.10
  • WA applicants: $115,256.00 - $161,357.70
  • Other site ranges may differ.
