About the role

The Buyer drives strategic sourcing initiatives that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance while ensuring a reliable supply of direct materials. This role partners cross-functionally to negotiate with suppliers, deliver cost savings, and support procurement strategies that drive operational success across the organization.

Reports to: Global Category Manager

Location: Southfield, MI

Due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) requirements, all candidates must be presently classified as a “US Person” (U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or protected individual with refugee/asylum status).

Responsibilities

  • Drive sourcing process for direct material sourcing, including issuing RFQs and leading negotiations for assigned categories across all Clarience Technologies’ business units
  • Develop and drive cost savings and continuous improvement projects for assigned categories
  • Identify technology trends and opportunities that business units should consider when developing new products or refreshing current products
  • Mitigate supplier-requested and commodity-driven price increases
  • Drive procurement process improvement activities and develop strong cross-functional relationships
  • Support business units in addressing and solving supplier quality and delivery issues
  • Provide input into global category strategies and develop a best-in-class supply base
  • Ensure effective communication of initiatives, progress, and potential issues to the broader organization
  • Support procurement financial reporting and reconciliation, including Purchasing Price Variance (PPV) reporting
  • Manage price changes in ERP/MRP systems
  • Support data gathering and population for global Supplier Scorecards and sourcing process
  • Manage supplier crises to ensure supply continuity
  • Leverage AI to achieve superior results

Senior Buyer (vs. Buyer) will be assigned more complex/critical categories and will be expected to contribute more to improving procurement processes, procedures, and development of category strategies.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Procurement/Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, or relevant education and experience
  • An MBA is advantageous but not essential
  • 2+ years of purchasing experience, including sourcing, quoting, supplier negotiation, and cost savings
  • Buyer: 2–4 years of experience in a global Procurement/Supply Chain organization, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Senior Buyer: 4–5+ years of experience in a global Procurement/Supply Chain organization, or equivalent combination of experience and education
