About the role
Our Richmond manufacturing facility is adding a Buyer/Planner to support the business. Key responsibilities include determining material needs, working with international suppliers, and developing strategic production planning methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Analyze quotes received, select or recommend suppliers, and schedule deliveries.
- Plan for and purchase materials according to the master production schedule.
- Maintain and adjust work in progress, schedules, and delivery of finished goods to meet customer requirements.
- Work with customers, sales, and production teams.
- Ensure material availability through accurate inventory monitoring, purchasing, and follow-up, including with external suppliers.
- Support the development and implementation of strategic production planning methodologies.
- Analyze inventory values and system setup to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor forecasting systems per supplier.
- Support supplier development using Alfa Laval tools.
- Monitor air freight costs.
- Monitor and communicate Product Supply Agreements (PSA).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field with relevant experience.
- 1+ years of experience in buying and planning, including purchasing materials, scheduling, and delivery.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems.
- Interest in working with both domestic and international supply chains.
- Ability to prioritize projects and manage workload independently.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
The base salary for this role is typically $65,000 - $75,000.
Schedule
This is an onsite position located in Richmond, VA.
