Buyer I- temp
Temporary position up to 3 months with possibility of extension based on business needs. W-2, full-time hours, non-exempt, hourly pay. 100% on-site in San Antonio, TX; not hybrid or remote. Not eligible for benefits as a temporary employee, except as required by law or applicable benefit-plan terms.
Position Summary
The Buyer I is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating delivery of materials, parts, and services for aerospace manufacturing. This includes negotiating purchase order terms, ensuring supplier comprehension of quality and compliance requirements, and identifying cost-effective solutions. The Buyer I will represent the Company and its values and ensure that the expectations of the Company’s customers are exceeded.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Manage suppliers/subcontractors to ensure quotes, certifications, and terms are well defined.
- Support daily shop floor stand-up meetings, provide material delivery updates, and ensure internal stakeholders' procurement requirements are understood.
- Ensure supplier master data accuracy.
- Maintain procurement KPIs (OTD, Cost, Quality).
- Track savings opportunities for both cost reduction and cost avoidance.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to liaise with all levels of leadership/stakeholders on any potential slips on program schedules, budget, or compliance.
- Ensure all procured materials and services comply with strict aerospace regulations, such as AS9100, and industry-specific standards.
- Understand and comply with safety policies.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience required (preferably in aerospace).
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- APICS & CPSM Certification preferred.
- Solid work experience with ERP systems and proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
