About the role
Purchases machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, raw materials, or services as needed to support SEi’s operational requirements. Maintains physical inventory through Epicor (MRP).
- Level I (Entry level): Learns to follow purchasing and receiving procedures in Epicor. Maintains approved (AS9100) vendor list and monitors open purchase order report. Labels incoming MRO, materials for storage, ensures cycle counts, and tracks MRO items.
- Level II (Intermediate): Issues request for quotes (RFQs), requisitions, and purchase orders for maintenance, repair and operation (MRO), supplies, and special purchases as needed.
Responsibilities
- Solicits bid proposals, prepares purchase orders, and reviews requisitions for goods and services.
- Communicates with production and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods, equipment, machinery, services, or raw material and determines corrective action.
- Negotiates and analyzes price proposals and other information to determine best pricing and delivery cost.
- Resolves internal vendor invoice discrepancies to support Accounts Payable.
- Participates in inventory control activities for warehoused items and/or raw materials that include material issues, cycle counting, min/max determinations, quantity adjustments, and physical inventories.
- Maintains accurate part number information.
- Maintains and reviews Epicor and/or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product, quantities, condition, payments, credits, consignments, backlogs, returns, and inventories.
Requirements
- Knowledge of purchasing principles and best practices.
- Manages and creates files and electronic records.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and able to effectively function in the ERP software system.
- Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work issues, interpret instructions both written and oral.
- Able to communicate effectively in English.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or some college coursework preferred.
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing setting preferred but not necessary.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to periodically walk and/or travel to other areas of the plant as directed; ascend staircases, use stools and ladders.
- Occasionally exert push force up to 30 pounds.
- Must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat, and/or skin.
Pay
In accordance with California law, the salary range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of the base compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
